Overview

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP)[1] is a federal law enforcement agency under the U.S. Department of Justice.  BOP is responsible for the administration of the federal prison system.  The BOP was established in 1930 to provide progressive and humane care for Federal inmates, additionally creating professionalism and consistency within a centralized administration.
