Mandated Reporter
From lawbrain.com
Mandated reporters are those who work with vulnerable populations (children, the elderly, etc.).
They may also include those who have care or custody of a child, dependent adult, or elder.
They are required to report whenever they see or suspect any type of abuse, and can be held liable for intentionally failing to report that abuse. These laws exist for the protection of those unable to protect themselves, and are applicable to persons with authority, including teachers, school administrators, counselors, doctors, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, social workers. Some states provide specific occupations the laws cover.
